Core Concepts

Here are a few core concepts for using SecAlerts:


A user is someone who can login to SecAlerts dashboard. NB. any email can be added to receive alerts, they are not classed as users and don’t need to be in the system. Users are for account management purposes only.


There are three types of roles, Root Admin, Admins, and Users.

A Root Admin is the owner of the account and can control all aspects of the organisations account. The root admin user is set under the Organisation section of the dashboard.

An Admin has all the rights of the root admin except for the ability to cancel the account.

A User has the ability to change alert settings to a group they have access to, they do not have access to payment information, or the ability to add other users.


Access allows admins to assign users to alert groups in order to manage their settings.

Alert Groups

Alert groups allows your teams to receive alerts that are relevant to them. They are a collection of software to track, emails to send alerts, and notification settings.


Frequency is how often the alerts are sent. You can choose between instant, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly.


The Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) determines the severity level of a vulnerability.

SecAlerts uses CVSS framework version 3.1 to indicate the severity of vulnerabilities.
